Fallen In Love

I am not a big fan of the Fallen series, but I decided if I was going to read the series I might as well read everything.
Fallen in Love is just like side stories to the main story line, it is the stories of the Valentine's day of all the couples in the series. I was mainly interested in Luce and Daniel, so I kinds just skimmed over the other ones.
I am very curious about the next book because, something about Luce choosing someone else other than Daniel was mentioned. That would be a big twist in the story line, and I can't wait to see who the other person could possibly be.

The Fault In Our Stars

Dear all readers, if you ever get your hands on this book, you MUST read it!
The Fault In Our Stars is a inspirational book that gives you insight on the lives and minds of kids who suffer from cancer.
When I first saw the book, I expected it to be about how cancer changed the life of the main protagonist Hazel. But instead, I found that it really jumped over that part and showed me the side of which not a lot of people think about. What happens after they survive? After surviving cancer once, you will always have a chance of relapse. The kids in the book are all living under the shadow of going through the whole process of battling cancer for their lives again. This time they might not win. I find Hazel to be a bright and brave character despite how she appeared to be. At first Hazel seemed very depressed and generally fell into the pessimistic side of things. But later as we explore her deepest thoughts and emotions, I am amazed at how strong she is. Being able to think of others when she is in need of help, wanting to limit the damage and scars she will leave behind after she dies. It's impossible just to think how hard it is, to push people away sometimes just because she doesn't want them to get hurt.
I also enjoyed all the philosophical arguments in the book. Both Hazel and Augustus have thought a lot about life and the meaning of life. They both are big readers and often refer to poems and other books. They are both people who love literature, and I enjoy reading about how they look at the world.

Three Kingdoms

Today this friends of my auntie's invited us over for dinner. We ate tacos, and burritos, salads, and lots of other delicious stuff.
There was 5 of us (ranging from age 12 to 24), Maggie(who is my cousin's friend), Grace(Maggie's cousin), Wendy(Grace's cousin), and the other Wendy(Maggies' friend). We all know each other cus our parents all know each other and so on.
We played this Chinese game called 三国杀. It is a really popular game in both China and here apparently. So basically it used the original idea of the famous Chinese book Three Kingdoms, and made it into on of those character games.
This is how you play it:
Each person gets a card that tells you who you are: you are either the king/ruler (you have special abilities, and have to be protected), the loyal general (you have to protect the king at all times), the rebel (you have to kill the king), or the spy (you want to kill everyone else first and then kill the king in a duel or something).
Then you choose the character you want to be from 3 cards that are randomly given to you. The king can choose whoever they like.
Then you get 4 starting cards. The King goes first, and the games goes counter-clockwise. Each player has to pick up 2 cards when it is their turn, and also has to dispose of the extra cards they have when they finish their turn. The number of card you have depend on how many drop of blood you have left. If you had 4 drops of blood, you can have 4 cards, if 1 drop of blood then only 1 card (unless you have a special character that allows you to do otherwise).
Every character is different, and there are many other cards for attack, defence, steal, challenge, escape, revive, and lots of other stuff.
Today was my first time playing the game, so I didn't play that well. It is SUCH a FUN game!!!
I want to play it next time I see them again! Sadly, it is a game that requires at least 4 people, and I usually can;t find that much people to play it with even if I wanted to.
Well, going to go to sleep now. It is already the next day.

Bloodlines

I regret not having read this book sooner.
I never knew Richelle Mead continued to write another series after she finished The Vampire Academy.
The Vampire Academy, despite its name, is not completely centralized on vampires. The reason why I enjoyed it so much, was because unlike some other vampire books, this book really created a whole society of vampires and made the vampires organized and together. They weren't just random vampires roaming the human society, or vampires that live in spooky houses in small towns. The vampires in the books were all part of something big, they were part of an society that has been there for a long time. I think that made it feel more real because every human in our society is part of something big too. Also I like how there are good vampires and bad vampires just like there are good people and bad people. But this was more extreme. There are the Strigoi and the Moroi. The Moroi are the good vampires and runs the whole vampire government, while the Strigoi are the evil undead vampire who are crazy for blood. Oh, and it is interesting because Moroi vampires are actually alive and they live a natural course of life, while the Strigoi are undead and live forever.
Now, onto Bloodlines. Just like The Vampire Academy which had a main protagonist that was not a vampire, but a half vamp half human girl named Rose, Bloodlines also has a main protagonist who was not a vampire. Bloodlines is written in the point of view of Sydney, who we have encountered many times in The Vampire Academy. I am grateful that the author decided to bring back and use the other characters of The Vampire Academy because we really do truly love those characters. It not only makes the story more exciting, it also gives us a better chance of really understanding and going deep into the story.

Badminton Pyramid

My first block was P.E. this morning, and we were still playing badminton (YAY). Instead of just playing 2 on 2 today,  we were doing something like a mini competition. Everyone was paired into teams of 2, and each received a number. We could play anyone we want (as long as we haven't played them already), and the winning team of each game will go record their victory on the table on the chalk board. We were playing games of 9 points (which is really little!), and only had a limited amount of time.
Like my whole week, today's P.E class went downhill pretty fast. My partner Tina and me only won the totally of 2 games. Which would be embarrassing, considering we played at least 5 different other team. But it wasn't embarrassing, because Tina wasn't feeling that well. I think that cooperation really matters when it comes to team work. Tina and me make a great team! But because one of us wasn't feeling well, we couldn't really show our true potential as a team.
I hope we are still doing the badminton pyramid competition thing again next week. If we are, I really hope our teacher has come up with a better table to record our scores, because the one we had today was extremely confusing!
In the end win or lose, rain or shine, I will always LOVE badminton!

Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Beyond

Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Beyond, is my topic for Applied Skills. We are learning about quantum mechanics, and each of us have to do a presentation on one of the topics. The process of assigning topics to everyone was very interesting. We had a substitute, and she came up with the idea of choosing topics by guessing numbers. Basically all we had to do was raise our hand when she read a topic that we wanted, and then pick a number. The person with the closest number to the one she had in mind would get the topic.
That was the day I realized that 7 was indeed not my lucky number at all. I think my lucky number is 8, but I don't really care any more, because numbers are only lucky when you think they are.
I tried many times for different topics, including black holes, dark energy, the sun and the stars, etc. But I never got my numbers right. In the end, when there was only 1 free choice left on the list of topics (the rest were left overs that no one wanted), I finally won my current topic with the nice number 82. I didn't know what made me guess 82 instead of something stupid like 77, I think the number just came to me...
Well, I am glad I got this topic, because researching about the planets is really interesting. I think the best part of my topic is that I have the "and beyond" part. At first, I didn't know what to possibly do for the "beyond". But now, I have so much to do, that I have to limit myself or else my presentation will be over the time limit of 10 minutes.
10 minutes is a really short time. I have so much to say!
I am having eons of fun making my presentation on Prezi. Prezi is simply awesome, mind-blowing, and completely outside of the box.
Now I am going to go back to my exciting tour of our solar system, I will post my Prezi on my blog once I finish presenting it!

Bleach

I am making a blouse in Textiles. I had bought this really pretty pink fabric with patterns on it. I though if I made the blouse with only pink, it might look a little too pink. In the end I decided to make the collar and the pockets of the blouse white, so it can be a contrast to all the pink and balance out all the colours.
I didn't want to waste money on buying a very small amount of white fabric, so I asked my auntie if she had any old while bed sheets or something. In the end, she pulled out this very nice table cloth that has many stains on it. I didn't really mind the stains because the cloth was very big, and there was plenty of fabric that were completely white. The table cloth also had flowered embroidered on, so I thought I could cut out the flowers for decorations or something.
When I cut the fabric for my collar, and facing, I didn't really pay attention to the stains on the fabric. My fabric ended up having multiple stains, and didn't look so nice. Yesterday I brought it home, and bleached it in hopes of getting the stains off. But unfortunately the stains must have been from a very very long time ago, so it didn't come off at all. However the fabric itself was brighter and whiter, which is of course very nice indeed.
I hope that when I finish the blouse there wouldn't be a permanent stain right on my collar or somewhere noticeable. As long as I can't see the satin clearly, I'm fine. But if it is somewhere everyone can see, I might have to re-cut the pieces and do it over again. I really hope that doesn't happen, because it not only wastes fabric, but it also wastes time!

Worst Morning I Have Ever Had

This morning I got up early to go to Choir practice, but I never got there on time.
When I got to my bus station, the bus must have came early because I saw it pass right by before my eyes. For some reason, that I cannot fathom, I decided to try to catch up with the bus. So I ran through this side road that took me to the road that the bus was going to be passing. Obviously when I got there, the bus was long gone.
I stood at the bus station for almost 10minutes, when another bus finally came. I would have gotten on, but the problem was I was on the other side of the road. It was raining in the morning, and I had gotten my shoes and socks wet. I must have been too distressed to notice the fact that I was standing on the wrong side of the road. I ended up missing that bus too. Now I was really frustrated, so I kept walking down the wrong side of the road. Suddenly another bus comes along right after the first one has left the corner, but I was still on the wrong side of the road, and no where near a bus stop. That was the third bus I missed in a row. I was desperate to get on the bus, I was already late, but I still hoped to get there as soon as possible. While sprinting down the side walk in hopes of catching the bus, I broke my umbrella permanently. But it was not over yet. I ran the whole way, but when I got to the bus stop where the bus would stop and wait for a few minutes for people because it was one of the hot spots, the bus was just pulling away. Even though it was the same bus, I consider that my fourth time missing the bus in a row. I must have set a record for missing the bus!
The rest of my day consisted of wet socks and shoes that made me terribly cold, and an English test that I was totally unprepared for. Today is one of those days where you feel like nothing goes right. However, instead of dreading the whole experience, I really do find it extremely amusing. I also think that it was a good lesson. I learned from today's experience to never chase after a bus unless you are truly desperate, and always take a good look at your surroundings, because you never know when you might just be standing the opposite of what you really want.

WOW!

I haven't been writing my blog regularly, but I will make up for the blogs that I missed.
Today I just typed in www.blogger.com, and I was already logged in to my blog on my computer. Suddenly this whole new format of the blog came out, and at first I thought something was wrong, because the page in front of me could not be my blog page. But then I look closely and read some of the things, I realized it was my blog. Except it was, in fact, now more like gmail and google stuff. It is all round buttons and they even have the same font.
It looks nice, but it took me by surprise.
To be honest, I really liked the old one better, because now that there is a new format to the blog, I would have to find out about all the new functions, and what is different and all that. I am not very good with that kind of stuff, and I am sure it would take me a while to figure everything out. However, I am too tired to bother exploring the new blogger, so I am simply going to go to bed.

I LOVE BADMINTON

I totally love badminton! It must be one of the best sports invented!
I had a lot of fun playing badminton in P.E class! I haven't played for almost a year, the only time I played during that time was for the badminton try out.
We have been playing badminton for more than a week, and I have had so much fun finally playing badminton. I have missed playing my favourite sport.
You might ask why I haven't played badminton for so long. Well, its because I have been moving a lot, and there isn't always someone to play it with. Badminton is only fun when you have at least 2 people playing. I mean, you can play it by yourself of course, but that would be quite dull and defeats the whole point of the game. Since my dad is really busy, and my mom is busy taking care of my brother too, no one else can play with me. Unfortunately, I am not the kind of person who wishes to play sports like badminton by myself, so I usually just set down my rackets and go read a book or something.
Now that I have time and people to play with, I am totally cherishing the time I have in class. I am also hoping to improve my badminton skills. After not playing for so long, I really have forgotten a lot of rules, and I am totally rusty. But after playing a few games, I feel confident that I can not only regain my badminton skills, and also learn a few more new ones in the process!

I'm Talking To My Parents Right Now

So I am on the phone with my parents right now, they are reading my blog in China.
I think they had to get some program or something to be able to see my blog, because some websites can't be accessed in China.
I hope my dad can leave comments, so then we can just talk on my blog or something.
Did I every mention that my blog is considered as my own personal journal! I think my parents can really get to know what I am doing these days by reading my blog.
To tell you the truth, I don't like writing blogs that much. I would much rather write with real pen and paper. But typing is much faster, and more efficient...
My brother really likes feeding the fish... LOL it would be really cool if the fish could reproduce and make more and more fishes after you feed them... Sadly, I guess that requires too much work.
So yeah, here is a message to my parents (hopefully they get it):
Dear mom and dad and Kankan.
You guys should really follow my blog, or at least come on often to check out what I have posted.
You will see that I have some real interesting stuff about everything here, and please leave comments!
  Love you guys!!!

The Vampire Diaries: The Hunters Moonsong

Don't even why I can still reading this series.
Like so many other series in this world, this series has been stretched way past its limit.
Sometimes when you read a series of books, you find the first book really refreshing and good. When you get to the second book, you may start to lose your interest a little. When you get to the third book, fourth book, or more, you tend to find that it just gets less and less precise and enthralling. Of course, this is not the case for all series. In my opinion, an example of a good series is Harry Potter. If you have read the Harry Potter series, you will notice that after you finish the whole series, different people tend to have a different favourite book out of the 7. Some people may enjoy the Prisoner of Azkaban then most (me), others like the last book or the first book. To me, a good series is a series of book in which you can pick up any one of them and have the equal amount of excitement and fun from anyone (even if you don't read it sequentially).
Now, back to the Vampire Diaries. I was a big fan when the series first was published. At the time vampires were "at large" and the vampire dairies captured them really well. Plus the increasingly popular traingle love story stuff, it was pretty good. However, it was not a very good series because every book just got worse and worse and worse.
It is pretty off track now, and there is totally no point of the whole story any more. Plus the Stefan, Elena, Damon thing is completely messed up right now...

This is like the nth book of the series, and I really think they should just end it soon! They have been dragging and dragging, and nothing better has come out of it.
I heard that the publishers got someone else to write the book, because the author was writing it too far away form the TV series. I thought the TV series is really good. It is super awesome and I watch it every week, but the book really stop!

Sun Run Results!!!

Today I checked my Sun Run results and this is it!!!

My time was 1:04:23.9.
It was the 15643 place out of 38935 people.

I thought I did pretty good cuz this year was my first Sun Run.
To be honest, I didn't really know what to expect for the 10km. I just don't know how long it would be!
If I did, I would have felt better and be better prepared. But never the less, YAY!~
Next year, I am going to reach my goal of completing the Sun Run under and hour. That is my goal, and next year, I will guarantee it to come true!!!

The Time Traveller's Wife

  This book is EPIC!!!
Even though it says it is a romance novel (which it is), I think it is much more. I mean the whole idea of time travelling has a lot to do with quantum physic and mechanics and all that. In the book it suggests that there was a parallel universe, and travelling through these different parallel dimensions allowed someone to time travel.
The book was really confusing at first because I really didn't understand how Henry was time travelling. Which is the "real Henry"? The one that lived in the "real" world. I didn't get how he time travelled and he was at different ages. I also didn't get how sometimes he would meet himself, and himself would not remember or even know that he time travelled. Of course this all became clear later on in the book, but it really gave me a good mystery.

The romantic side of this book is truly something that is unbelievable. Clare has known Henry since she was a little girl, and yet the Henry in the "real" world did not know her. It is a romance that truly crossed all time and space. I found it really interesting that Clare should fall in love with Henry when she was only so young, and every since she knew that she had to be with Henry and only Henry.
I have yet to finish the book, so I am sure I will have much more to talk about when I do really finish it!

The Haunted

Today I went to the library and picked up some book on hold for me.
I found this book called The Haunted. I often saw it at the library, but I never took it out.
I don't know what made me decide to take the book out, but I did. It could have something to do with Lillian always telling me to read this series, or more than one series, but I can never remember what it was called...
The Haunted is the second book of The Hollow series:

Since it was the second book, I didn't know what was really going on for quite a while. But I caught on. The story was totally not my kind, because I am over the girl-fall-in-love-with-something-supernatural-thing. The stories that were like that was usually pretty weird and strange for me. Maybe because I can never really understand how you can love someone that technically does not exist.
I know you can still love someone that is passed away, but falling in love with a ghost or spirit or something is harder to imagine. You can fall in love with an idea, maybe a story, or a way of thinking. People fall in love with things that do not exist all the time. But falling in love with people that does not exist is different. The definition of a person is different. How can you love a person if they are no more than something that you can only see but not touch. How can you make sure that you are not just hallucinating?
Well, I think you totally can. But I probably would never, because I just don't have that much imagination and supernatural connection to actually have the chance to experience such things.

Dim Sum 2

So after we ate Dim Sum, we decided to go to Metrotown. Vivian's mom needed to go there too so she gave us all a ride.
At metro I immediately suggested that we go to Chapters. But Vivian's cousin wanted to do some shopping for her as a early birthday present, so we went to places like American Eagle and stuff to buy clothes. Soon we ended up in the perfume body works place where they were giving out cards that gave you $5 for free! We decided that we had to use the free $5 on something, so we all started looking around for stuff that we could get. Yunyi got her friend a birthday gift with her free $5 and also a small bottle of perfume thingy. The rest of us all got the perfume thing, except for Lavina, who got this really-cute-late-one-in-the-whole-store-turtle-shaped-cosmetics-mirror. It was, as I mentioned, really cute. And it was FREE.
Now, I know something that I love MORE than free stuff, is FOOD!!!
  Y U M ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Vivian and her cousin went to H&M, and so Yunyi, Lavina, Emma, and me went to Purdys to get some well deserved ice-cream.
One of the reasons I got ice-cream was because I had one of those cards that told you that if you got 10 ice-cream you can get one for free! (See the free stuff again?)
After the delicious ice-cream we went to find Vivian and her cousin at H&M, or was it Forever 21? Well, one of those.
Then we went to Garage and a bunch of other places. But I was getting pretty tired, so some parts of the day remains a blurr. All I know is, we went to find Vivian's mom and her brother at this cosmetics shop. I have never been there so I don't remember what it was called. We walked around, and then Vivian and her family had to leave. Yunyi, Emma, and me went to this place called something like Ardenes which was across the cosmetics shop. Then we finally went to Chapters!!!
It was a really long day, but I had tons of fun!!!

Dim Sum 1

I think it was last Friday. I think.
I think it was Vivian and Yunyi who arranged this get together to eat Dim Sum in the morning. We ended up going to this Dim Sum restaurant that was owned by Vivian's uncle.
I had this awesome time getting to the Dim Sum place. Basically I took 49 to Victoria, and then took 20 towards Downtown all the way to Pender (it was a long time for me because I had never taken 20th bus before, and I have never really gone to that part of downtown by myself before either. Basically I was not a downtown person. Maybe more like the edge of the city kind or something...) So I got off at Pender, and then walked for around 6 minutes (that was what google maps told me) towards the right on East Hastings.
The Dim Sum place was called Pelican Seafood restaurant. I didn't know what I was expecting, but I was somewhere along the lines of either a big bird on the front board, or fishes and shrimps for seafood. But the restaurant sign was just red with white words on it. I thought it looked really nice and simple, but the "pelican" on the side was a little hard to spot if you weren't looking for it.
I thought I was going to be late, but I ended up getting there first. Vivian arrived a few seconds later, and the rest was history.
We got a seat, and me and Viv went out to wait for the others. Originally 9 people were coming, but April had piano lessons so now there were only 8. We waited and Yunyi soon arrived. Then we started to worry because the rest of the people were either super late or cannot come. We phoned Kaixin, and she was really sick was a cold so she couldn't come either. Emma was coming, but she mistrusted the bus driver who brought her to Burnaby... In the end it was only Vivian, Yunyi, Emma and me that went. Jennica and Tina also had to cancel because of piano lessons...
The Dim Sum was really good. I was never one who loved Dim Sum, because I was more from mainland China and we rarely ate Dim Sum there. Even though we had to wait a long long long while before we finally got to sit down and eat, it was totally worth it. However I do feel bad because in the end Vivian's parents paid for us. Vivian's birthday is on the 15th (this Sunday), hint hint.

Where To Start?

I was so busy these days, I haven't written my blog for 6 whole days. So now I will do this epic recap of everything that happened during this week (and the weekend).
So, it was Easter long weekend last weekend. I was going to go to Fabricanna to buy fabric for textiles, but I didn't have time in the end, and the store closed before I was even able to get there. I kind of regret that because they were having this awesome Easter sale that had everything on 50% off, and patterns were really inexpensive like 3 dollars each. Now I will probably be going tomorrow, which is a Friday.
Read next blog for my exciting long weekend!!!

Miss Peregrines's Home For Peculiar Children

THE COVER OF THIS BOOK IS REALLY FREAKING ME OUT!!!
Yesterday I was just going to bed, and I saw the cover of this book on my desk. It freaked me out so much, I had to turn it upside down (which was a bad idea because there were other freaky pictures in the back) and put another two books on top and below it...

I thought this book was going to be about the real world. Like supernatural sightings, or other mysterious stuff that happened before. I thought it was going to be about haunted children, evil houses, and mutated experiments... But it was actually much less scarier then what I thought it would be.
Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children (another super long name that I will NOT be typing again) is a totally fantasy. Completely fantasy based. It was about stuff that is not real (as far as I know), so that made it's scary level come down a lot. If the stuff they were talking about were real, and the pictures were real, then I would be freaked out. But they were not real, they were only these the weave a more interesting fantasy story, so it wasn't scary any more. (Ex: Voldemort is completely evil, but he is not real, so he is not that scary. On the other hand, is he were a real person, then people would be really scared of him.)
The story of the book was okay... The pictures were really the most eye catching part of the book. All those vintage black and white pictures of strange things that never were and will be can give you the bageebees (translation: goose bumps).
Here are some pics, see them if you dare. Good night, and sweet dreams (if you can ><)

I put on more pictures, but they were freaking me out. Again. I think I am really easialiy freaked out by these stuff... So I am going to leave these pictures. FREAKY. FREAKY. FREAKY. FREAKY. FREAKING ME OUT...

Wolves Of The Beyond: Frost Wolf

Faolan has always been an outsider. Exiled as a pup, then shunned by his fellow wolves for his unusual connection to the bears, Faolan has struggled to earn a place in the pack. But a terrible danger is looming on the horizon, and Faolan is the only one who knows how to fight it. Will he be able to claim his rightful place as leader? Unless Faolan can inspire the pack to stand together, it could be the end of the wolves of the beyond.
(Wolves of the beyond 4th book)

I read this one pretty quickly too... There are more owl stuff in this. I really think that owls are really smart!!! The helmet the Prophet wore was totally owl hero artefact. I don't get how all the wolves are addicted to the spirit dance and stuff. They were all like hypnotized, and they were just worshipping death. I don't understand, it is like a cult or something, and everyone was addicted.

Wolves Of The Beyond: Watch Wolf

I kinda skipped through the book... I think that Guardians of Ga'Hoole is better.

A wolf's eye view of the legends of Ga'Hoole in this stirring third installment of the Wolves of Beyond series by bestselling author Kathryn Lasky.

Born with a twisted paw, Faolan was abandoned as a wolf pup and left to die. But not only did he survive and make it back to the wolf clan, he proved himself to be one of the most worthy wolves of all.

But just as Faolan is about to take his place as one of the revered Wolves of the Watch, a fellow watch wolf goes missing. Faolan is sent to track her down and makes a horrifying discovery - she has been kidnapped by bears. A war is coming between the wolves and the bears, and only Faolan can stop it.
(Third book of the Wolves Of The Beyond series)

I still feel like there are too little owls involved in the story. It is supposed to be "return to the world of Guardians of Ga'Hoole. I LOVE owls. Owls are awesome!!! MORE OWLS!!!

Shoot!

I haven't been writing my blogs lately. I just realized I haven't written my blogs in 5 days. OMG, how terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today is April 4th 2012. I think I am going crazy, because I can't seem to stop typing. I just sent a at least 200 hundred word email to my mom....
I thought the email page would not let me write so much, but it turns out that emails can really carry a lot of information and words after all.
Even though I am typing a lot and very fast, if I do say so myself, I still have quite a few typos. I wonder how I will do on the typing test now. I can type blind, but I am much slower, and not very used to it....
Okay, to hyper, feel like if I keep doing this I am going to explode like a bomb or something. Scary when you are doing something and you can't seem tot stop yourself. I bet my auntie is wondering why I am attacking my keyboards at such a high speed, and wondering if I was okay, because I think I have been at this for at least half an hour. Now that is scary...
  More intense typing, see ya!!!!!!!!!1
