My cousin has the book The Art of War.
It is by Sun-tzu who is a general from a long time ago in China. It tells you about how to win wars, the strategies, everything. I heard American generals were required to read it.
I am reading the English version, but my dad read the Chinese one.
My dad's favourite phrase is "Ultimate excellence lies not in winning every battle, but in defeating the enemy without ever fighting." If this could be achieved in war, then the world would be much more peaceful.
The book is really deep. It tells you about war itself, what war should be and the best ways to win a war. As it says in a book "War is a grave affair of state; It is a place of life and death, a road to survival and extinction, a matter to be pondered carefully."
If I remember correctly, Sun-tzu was in the time of the Three Kingdoms. And the tale of the Three Kingdoms is one of my favourite stories (it is also a book). There are many kinds of war strategies in the tale, and it was a time of great war, so how each tactic was used was very exciting.
The Art of War is a very inspiring book in many ways. I hope I can get my hands on a Chinese version so I can read it too. I think maybe the original version may be even better than the translated one, after all no two languages are exactly the same.
