Maus

We are reading Maus for English. It is a comic book about the holocaust, it portrays Jews as mice, and Germans as cats, Americans as dogs, French as frogs, Canadians as moose, Polish as pigs, and so no. It is such a great book. It is so awesome. It taught me so much about the Holocaust. Things that I would never have come cross, or know if not for this book.
I just finished reading Maus 2. It is as interesting as the first book, if not more. Vladek is such a complicated and interesting character. I think he is very smart and fit for survival, it is one of the reasons he came out of the war. I can not begin to imagine what it was like, so I am just going to say this: genocides are totally scary.
One of the main reasons I like Maus is because it allows you to stay detached from such a serious and heavy subject... It really shows you the story in such a graphic and detailed way. When I was reading the second book, one of the things I always wanted to say was the fact that Art was really frustrated towards his father in the end. I thought he could have cut him some slack, imagine all the things Vladek has been through. It is a miracle he can still manage himself so well...
Maus is a great comic book, and I even introduced it to my aunt. She said she will read it when she has time.
