The Great Book of Amber

My friend Michelle suggested this book to me. I don't remember if I ever mentioned it on previous blogs...
This book has officially become MY FAVOURITE BOOK!
I think I have never read a book of true science fiction as epic as that. The Great Book of Amber is really timeless. I love how the characters talk, it was british English mixed with some American slangs. The author never really state what year or time the book was in yet it informed you of time passing. It was kind of like a royal battle in Narnia with immortals in a world bigger than our own. I love the author's style, he write sarcastically and is quite straight forward. The book is written from Corwin's point of view and he is a prince of Amber. Amber is the real center and all around it is similar places that resemble Amber in some ways called shadows. Earth is a shadow in which Corwin lived in for many years, that is why he talks american slangs. They seem to have another language, but the dialogue is always in English, the author just informs you they are speaking a different language in a very vogue way that makes you barely aware the fact that there was a change of language.
The whole story is straight forward but hard to understand fully. The author always gave you just enough to understand and think it over, but never enough to actually know what the real intent was. I love the way the author focuses on small detail such as people's expressions and movements. Everything that is said, done, observed serves a purpose. The characters in the book are all unique in their own way and the author smoothly shows the different personalities through a long series of events. The plot is never predictable because there never seem to be a real start to the story. Amber was just there, most of the main characters were all alive for a very long time, so you could never seem to predict anything long-term. You obtain information mostly by the characters own observations and conversations with others. The way people converse are all different and unique. I don't know how the author manages but when he mentions a character you can immediately almost feel their personality. The main character also thinks about a lot of stuff and undergoes many changes.
I haven't finished the book yet, and I can't wait!!! I have the edition in which there is the whole series in one book. I don't notice it when I read, but the author has this unique style and he always manage to  grab your attention even with the smallest things...
