Choir

Today choirs were singing at the assemblies for Resemblances Day. I felt pretty neutral to all the "singing in front of the whole school" thing, until we got to the grade 9s, which included people I know. I was really nervous for that performance, and I definitely learned my lesson. Someone can NOT sing when they are nervous (which involves tense muscles, tight jaws, and occasionally clenching fists, or maybe shaky knees...). Ms. Dionne would always ask us to relax our muscles before every practice, I realized how important it was to feel comfortable. If your muscles were tense, you basically couldn't sing right. Your notes come out strained and you aren't singing everything in the right tone. I had a first hand experience and it was bad.
I was also surprised at how much we had to sing. Singing 3 same songs for 4 times in a row is not exactly what I would call interesting. I thought we only had to do the assemblies 2 times, but instead it was doubled.
Nevertheless, I had a great time singing, and getting to know people in the choirs better. It was also really fun noticing how every assembly is, NO matter what you do (unless you put the whole entire school in for one assembly), noticeably different. Different people, different moods, different times, it changes everything.
"In Flanders Fields" was my favourite song, and I love the poem too. A good song+ a good poem is simply stunning. I remember when I first sang it, it sent shivers down my spine. I think we did a great performance, and I can't wait till our next one.
