There is a song called Stronger by Kelly Clarkson. I first heard it in Textiles, usually when we work on something that takes a while, Ms. Nicholson lets us open the radio. And I am guessing it was 94.5 or virgin radio? I am not sure, but it always plays the top hits and stuff. One week it kept playing stuff like Moves Like Jagger, and other songs. Once they played Uptown Girl, I was really surprised because it was actually a older song by Westlife. Any ways, today they kept playing Party Anthem, and Stronger. And a few lines in the lyrics really stuck into my head. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Stand a little taller. Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone. What doesn't kill you makes you a fighter. Footsteps a little lighter."
I was listening and listening to this song again and again. I totally love it. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" makes me think of all the book I have read. Usually what happens in fictional books are the main character has to undergo dangerous and near death experiences to complete their journey. And every time, what doesn't kill them makes them a better, stronger, deeper character. I feel like these lyrics totally explain and summarize what characters in books go through. This also happens in real life to many people, and it is really true. I believe that what doesn't kill you really can make you stronger.
And the song rhymes!
