Today when I went to art class. Our teacher gave me my awards for this Chinese international drawing competition. A lot of people from our art class won, and the people from China mailed it to us because no one could actually go to the ceremony. It was held in Beijing I believe, we have to pay 4 dollars for mailing fee though...
So the awards was a certificate, and a silver medallion. Believe it or not, I have never gotten a real medallion before. I have got certificates, ribbons, but never a medallion. I once made a "#1 Mother" medallion for my mother for Mother's Day when I was small. But because I used a big plastic bottle cap and covered it with tin foil, it could only be a silver metal. This medallion is also a silver one, it looks really interesting...
When I first got the medallion, I wondered if the medallion contained any real silver. But once I thought about it, I guessed not. Probably only Olympic medals have real silver or gold. Speaking of Olympics, for some unfathomable reason, there just happens to be the 5 hoops of the Olympics on top of the medal. But that doesn't mean there is any real silver right?
This is my first medal ever. I have always thought that when I got my first medal I would be really really excited and happy. But now, I only feel very calm. Now that I think about it, there is really no difference between a certificate and a medallion, or a ribbon. They are all the same, they symbolize something. No matter what form it is in, it is meant to do the same thing, to help you remember different experiences you have been through.
Did I mention Star Wars 3 Revenge of The Sith is now my favourite movie of all times???
