Raccoon

My auntie finally got her new car today, it is a beautiful white car with extensive features.
When we get new cars in our family, we invite everyone along and go out for a spin. So that is exactly what we did. There wasn't a lot of places we could go to, so we just went to Stanley park. We were really lucky, because almost right after we got there, we saw this raccoon. It was crossing the road, and we could barely see it. I think we probably would have ran over it, if the big lights hadn't caught it's movement. It is this lone raccoon, and his eyes shone gold in the darkness. He stood at the side of the road watching our headlights, while we stopped the car to watch him. Of course, I am just assuming it is a him, it might be a female for all I can actually see.
The raccoon was grey with black stripes on its tail. It looked big, so am I guessing it is an adult. After a while of intense staring, he finally hid himself into a bush. We left right after, but I did catch a glimpse of him popping out again.
I don't know if it is just my memory, but I seem to recall that raccoons lived in packs? I remember when I was small, a friend of my cousin's got bitten by one of the raccoons. There were a lot that day, and they were all searching for food around the docks where we were sight seeing. The guy went and tried to feed or play with one of the raccoons, so it bit him on the finger. We all thought he had rabies. I was kinda scared of him, because I heard that raccoons often had rabies and gave it to humans a lot. Of course, the guy was fine...
I wonder where the raccoons live. Can they climb trees? Do they live on branches, or trees, or bushes? I don't think they live under ground, that is for sure...
