This weekend, I wanted to make some hats for our Applied Skills project. But then I thought, why just knit when I can watch a movie and knit at the same time. So then came the question of what movie I should watch? I have heard Star Wars is a epic movie, and I often hear other teachers play it for their students. I have never watched it before, so I was like why not?
I started, like any other person, from the first movie. The first thing I thought when the "long time ago in a galaxy far far away came out", I thought it looked very low tech. But then when the movie started, I immediately changed my mind. The graphic was really really good! And at the time I still thought they shot the movie in order, so I was thinking "Wow, our film technology was really good at that time..." Of course I learned that they shot the Star Wars movie in the order of 4 5 6 1 2 3.
My favourite part of the first movie had to be the pod racing, little Anakin was so cute. Hard to imagine him later on when he went to the dark side. The only thing I could think of when I saw the third movie was "Why?" He was so cute when he was small, but I guess he was too arrogant and sure of his own powers. He was also probably one of those people who goes to extreme for some stuff. He loved Padme too much, and after he became evil, he became too evil.
When I saw Anakin after he became evil I also thought about the phrase "If looks could kill". The third movie was beyond exciting, it gave me a strong impression. I remember the lava place because I saw a documentary on Star Wars 3 Revenge of the Sith in Fine Arts last year. It is a completely different feel when you see something on the big screen and just watch, and seeing something on the big screen and knowing how it was made.
The movie got more and more simple, as you can tell from the colours and the special effects. I feel like some parts were really fake after the 4th movie.
Star Wars has an obsession with cutting off body limbs. It contains the most cutting off limbs in science fiction movie. After watching the 5th movie, I had a feeling all the main characters had their arms or hands cut off at least once.
I still need to watch the 6th movie though...
